Betty Blanchard

Betty Mae Blanchard of Cold Spring passed away peacefully on August 17, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was 81.

Born on May 9, 1937 in Silver Creek, New York to the late Albert and Eleanor Doncavage Kurz.

Betty grew up in Angola, New York and graduated from Lake Shore Central High School in 1955, she went on to graduate from Sister of Charity School of Nursing in 1958. After graduation she worked at an Army hospital in Germany , in 1960 she came to work at Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring where she worked as a discharge Planner until her retirement in 1993.  After She retired she went to work as a school nurse for the Peekskill School District until she retired in 1998.  Betty loved to travel, and do many different crafts.

On June 12, 1971 Betty married Roger Blanchard in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years Roger of Cold Spring, Loving Step-Children Julia Piraino of Westwood, NJ, Susan Zavoski and her husband Daniel of Johnstown, Iowa, Dear Sister Marilyn Kurz of Cold Spring, Dear Brother Edward Kurz of Webster, NY.  Cherished grandchildren Kimberly Zavoski, Michael Piraino, and James Piraino.  Adored Nieces and Nephews Steven Kurz, Tricia Crossed and her husband Andy, Jimmy and Laine Crossed, Anna and Connor Kurz.

Friends may call on Wednesday August 22, 2018 from 4-6pm at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring.  A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday August 23, 2018 at 3pm at Glenwood Cemetery , Silver Creek, New York.
