Catherine Kanlong

Cate Kanlong passed away suddenly Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home in Cold Spring. She was eighteen years old.

Cate was born at Hudson Valley Hospital on August 21, 2001 and grew up in the village of Cold Spring. A 2019 graduate of Haldane High School and the Northern Westchester BOCES’s Cosmetology program, she obtained her cosmetology license shortly after graduation and began her career with Vaza Salon in Ossining, New York. She was recently promoted to senior associate and floor stylist and loved the creativity and energy of her craft. She was a rising talented hair and makeup artist whose promising future was cut startlingly short. Cate’s beautiful smile and spark of life will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Cate is the beloved and treasured daughter of her mother, Christina Fanelli of Cold Spring, Stepdad-to- be Mick Daly, of Arigna, Ireland, and her father, Henry Kanlong and Stepmom Gina Domenico of Fishkill.

She is also the much loved sister to Joe Kanlong, of Cold Spring, and Sam Kanlong, of Rhinebeck. She is predeceased by her brother Zachary, of TwentyNine Palms, California.

Cate is also survived by her loving grandparents: Joe and Lillian Fanelli, of Yorktown Heights; Jorge and Durcinia Kanlong of Salinas, Ecuador; Attracta Wynne of Arigna, Ireland; and Pauric Sweeney of Ballinamore, Ireland. Cate was blessed with a very large and loving group of aunts, uncles and cousins here in the New York area, and in counties Roscommon and Leitrim, Ireland.

Friends may call on Friday July 31, 2020 from 5-8pm at Clinton Funeral Home, Cold Spring. In observance of New York State guidelines, we will be limiting visitors to no more than 33% of our maximum capacity; A distance of at least 6 ft. must be maintained amongst all individuals inside our funeral home and acceptable face coverings must be worn while inside. We kindly ask after paying your respects, that you exit promptly so that we can continue to move guests in and out of the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 1, 2020 privately for the family.  Interment will be at 10:30am Saturday August 1, 2020 at Cold Spring Cemetery
