Donna Peterson

Donna Peterson (71) joined her Heavenly Father on August 3, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

Donna was born on December 13, 1946 in Bronx, NY to Rose and Eugene Spencer. She graduated from Hunter College with a degree in English and Elementary Education in 1968, and went on to teach at P.S. 63 in the Bronx. Donna married Richard Peterson in 1969 and left teaching to start her family in 1970. The Petersons moved to Cold Spring in 1971, where Donna became a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Loretto church, as well as an active and supportive parent at Haldane. From 1994 - 1997 she returned to working with elementary school children at Philipstown Recreation Department’s after-school program.

Donna devoted her life to the care of her family. Her passions included cooking, gardening, music, the arts, and animals —  pets and wildlife. Her faith in God is what truly inspired her life, though, and gave her strength to get through the difficult times after her diagnosis in 2015.

Donna leaves behind her beloved husband of 49 years, Richard; her four daughters: Laura, Jennifer (Hackney), Christine and Amy (Sherlock); her five grandchildren: Mackenzie, Samuel, Robbie, Savannah and Michael; and her siblings: Gene (Spencer), Warren (Spencer) and Karen (Major).

Friends may call on Monday August 6, 2018 from 4-7pm at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott St, Cold Spring, NY 10516. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 10am at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St, Cold Spring, NY 10516, followed by internment at Cold Spring Cemetery.
