Kathryn Reydel

Kathryn M. Reydel (née Scheel), 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 after a long illness.

Born in The Bronx, Kathy and her family moved to Cold Spring, New York in the mid-1940's; they resided for several years at Plumbush before moving to Garrison, New York. Kathy graduated from Haldane High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.

Kathy commuted to Mobil Oil in Manhattan, where she worked as a secretary. She met her husband, William Reydel, while commuting to work by train. Kathy and Bill were married in 1980.

For several years later on, Kathy worked for Downey Oil in Cold Spring, New York as the bookkeeper.

Kathy was known to be quite a private and very intelligent person, an avid reader and a whizz at the Sunday Times crossword puzzles. She loved her cats and tending to her garden.

Kathy is predeceased by her husband, Bill Reydel, as well as her parents, Frederick C. Scheel, Esq. and Katherine Scheel (nee Doris) of Garrison, New York. Kathy is survived by her brother Frederick Scheel (wife: Jane Gilligan); brother William Scheel (wife: Valerie Scheel); nieces Pamela Scheel, Cara O'Connor and Laura Scheel; and great nephews Liam O'Connor, Quinn O'Connor and Cole Benton.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 27, 2021 at Clinton Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30. Thereafter a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring, New York 10516. Burial at Cold Spring Cemetery will follow immediately.
