Margaret Giachinta

Margaret Ann Giachinta a lifelong resident of Cold Spring passed away peacefully on October 28, 2019 in Leesburg  Virginia.  She was 88.

Born on May 29, 1931 in Cold Spring, New York to the late Samuel and Mary Muschock Scoba

Margaret is survived by her loving children Anthony Giachinta and wife Una of Leesburg, VA, Michael Giachinta and his wife Noelle of Cold Spring and Peter Giachinta and his wife Kim of Cold Spring.  Cherished grandchildren Matthew, Tyler, Samuel, Evan, Anthony, Erin, Gillian and Rachel Giachinta.  Margaret was predeceased by her beloved  husband Antonio Giachinta in 1987 and her siblings Susan Rapalje, Hasha Scoba, Charles Scoba,Michael Scoba, Mary Etta, Helen Bertoline, Catherine Timmerman and Hazel McCullough.

Before Margaret became a homemaker and mother she was very proud of her days at IBM in Poughkeepsie NY, she was awarded $5,000 for an idea that saved time in the assemble of computers in 1963. After IBM she raised 3 boys and attended many football games and wrestling matches, but watching her sons on the football field was her joy as she used to watch her brother Mike play on the same field.

Margaret had the chance to attend the wedding of her first grandchild Matthew Giachinta and his wife Bre over Memorial Day weekend of this year which was so much fun for her and her family.

Friends may call on Thursday November 7, 2019 from 4-8pm at Clinton Funeral Home 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday November 8, 2019 at 10:00at at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring.  Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery.
