Robert J. Cresci a loving husband, father , grandfather and a long-time resident of Brooklyn Heights and Garrison, passed away on December 22 from a fatal heart attack. An avid tennis player, he enjoyed tennis with family and friends at the Heights Casino Racquet Club and his home court in Garrison. As a graduate and enthusiastic supporter of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he enjoyed attending Army football games and mentoring many young cadets as they came through the Academy.
Bob was the co-founder and managing director of Pecks Management Partners Ltd., an investment management firm, since 1990. Prior to that, he was an investment banker at Shearson Lehman Brothers for 20 years and was a director at Alliance Capital Management. He served on the boards of numerous corporations including j2 Global, Inc., CIM Commercial Trust Corporation, and OFS Capital Corporation.
At West Point Bob was the captain of the water polo team and competed for the Army swimming team. In addition to his undergraduate degree in Engineering from West Point, he held an M.B.A. in Finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. As a Captain in the US Army he served two tours in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, MaryBeth Cresci, his three children Christopher, Elizabeth, and Kyle, his two grandsons Christopher and Connor, his daughter-in-law Timea and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Christina, and numerous siblings, nephews and nieces. His family and friends will forever miss his warm kindness, steadfast support, masterful storytelling, and unconditional love.
He will be interred with military honors at the West Point Cemetery at a later date.
