Teresa Van Tassel

June 19, 1936 — June 7, 2020

Teresa Van Tassel, a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 83.

Teresa was born in Cold Spring to the late Joseph and Rachel Percacciolo, on June 19th, 1936.

On June 29th, 1957, she married the love of her life, George VanTassel Sr.  They spent 56 years together,  until his death in 2013.

Teresa was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, and was also a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Highlands Fire Company. She was

employed by the Putnam County Office for the Aging, where she was a driver for the Meals on Wheels program.

Teresa had many joys in her life, but the most important was her family. She took great pride in cooking and Sunday meals were her specialty. She loved attending all the special

events in the lives of her children, and her grandchildren. Another joy was her admiration for QVC. A week would not go by without an order from QVC, quickly calling for all those specials   on shoes and pocketbooks.

Teresa is survived by her three children, George (Laura) VanTassel of Leesburg,Virginia, John (Kristin) VanTassel of Cold Spring, and Teresa (Michael) Lyons of Hopewell Junction. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Jayson) Geiser, Michael Lyons Jr, Hilary Lyons, Gabrielle VanTassel, Kevin VanTassel, Ryan VanTassel and one great

grandchild, Spencer J. Geiser. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Angelo and Joseph Percacciolo Jr., and grandson, Benjamin VanTassel.
