Thomas Francis Hayden, born October 25, 1951; died September 14, 2019. He had been director of Pharmacies, Riker's Island. Tom volunteered for many non-profit organizations in New York City and Putnam County, where he had homes. Among the many organizations with which he was involved were AHRC NYC, the Cold Spring Lion's Club, the Putnam History Museum, Constitution Island Association, and St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Garrison.
Tom was much loved in the community and is survived by his partner of 24 years, Preston Lawrence Pittman, and his sister, Barbara Delmonaco (Alex). He is also survived by three nephews, one niece, and 8 great-nephews and great-nieces.
Tom loved attending Friday nights at Antipodean Book Store on Garrison Landing, and was a patron of many local artists. Tom was a subscription holder at the New York Philharmonic and regularly attended chamber music concerts at Juilliard and the Jupiter Chamber Players. He loved Indian cuisine and adored dogs.
Everyone who knew Tom will never forget his infectious laughter and the twinkle in his eye.
A funeral service will be held at St. Philip's Church in the Highlands, 1101 Route 9D, Garrison NY on Friday, October 4, at 12:30. Donations in Tom's memory can be made to AHRC NYC, 83 Maiden Lane, NYC NY, or to St. Philip's Church.
