Thomas LaSala

Thomas Joseph LaSala, born on January 4, 1927, in New York, New York, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 97.Thomas served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Western Pacific Theater for 14 months before joining the NYPD. He dedicated his life to serving and protecting as a New York City Police Officer, proudly retiring as Lieutenant after 24 years of commendable service. His commitment to his career was reflected in his membership of the Retired Lieutenant’s Association. Off duty, he found joy in watching baseball and basketball, filling his leisure time with the sports he loved.Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 57 years, Lydia Kondratiuk LaSala; his parents, Frank and Bella LaSala; his Stepson, John Majewicz; and his sisters, Frances Memolo and Katie Martorano.He is survived by his sons, Thomas LaSala and his wife Nikki, Chris LaSala and his wife Sarah; his Stepdaughter, Sophia Ward; his grandchildren, Christopher LaSala and his wife Annika, Taylor Haskell and her husband Will, Sydney LaSala, and Madison LaSala; and his great-grandchildren, Hudson Haskell, Hayden Haskell, and Ellia LaSala.  He is also survived by John’s children: Simona, John, Nancy and Steven as well as Sophia’s children: John, Diana, Christine snd Barbara. 

A man of integrity and dedication, Thomas will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community. His legacy continues through the lives of those he touched with his kindness and devotion.Services to honor and remember Thomas Joseph LaSala will be held on Saturday, August 31, 11:00-12:00pm at Clinton Funeral Home in Cold Spring, NY. Graveside service to immediately follow at Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice. His memory will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
