Thomas Merrigan

Thomas C. Merrigan passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2022 at the age of 75 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY.

Tom was a veteran of the United States Army where he learned his trade of Automobile Mechanics. He worked as an Auto Mechanic for many years in various garages. The last garage he worked for and retired from was A&G Auto Repair in Wappingers, NY.

Tom was a long time member of the Nelsonville Fire Department. He was Chief of Nelsonville Fire Department for multiple years. Through the years at the Fire Department he enjoyed hosting auctions, spaghetti dinners, pancake breakfast and selling Christmas trees. His love for the Fire Department trickled down to his son, Thomas.

Anyone that knew Tom “Bird” knew his children always came first. He was the guy that always made you laugh, put a smile on your face and had quirky jokes. Tom has always been described as one of the good ones.

Thomas is survived by his loving daughter Danielle Thompson, her husband Jeffrey Thompson. His loving son Thomas Merrigan II, his wife Loriann. Cherished  grandchildren Marena and Thomas Thompson, his special pizza girl Janelle, Heather Goudreau and her husband Fabien, Christopher Minardi and Rachel Baloga, Vanessa Minardi and great granddaughters Chloe Goudreau and Lorelai Minardi . Thomas sister Helen and husband Doug Eaton, brothers Jim and wife Rose Daley, Earl (Pete) and wife Tess Daley, Dan and wife Lynn Daley and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas is preceded by his father Earl and mother Esther Daley, brother Wallace Daley, sister Emma Dexter and her husband Bill.

Visitation will be held on Monday April 18, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Clinton Funeral Home , 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring, NY. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2022 at 10:30am at Clinton Funeral Home in Cold Spring, NY.   Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Putnam Valley with military honors.
