William Joseph Zablinis Jr.

Cold Spring

William Joseph Zablinis Jr., formerly of Cold Spring, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024 while living with his daughter Leah in the Bronx. He was 82.

 Known to all as “Bill”, he was born on January 2, 1942 in Teaneck, NJ to the late William and Adele Tiunis Zablinis Sr. as second-generation proud Lithuanians.

 Bill grew up in Fairview, New Jersey and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. After graduation, he went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Upon being honorably discharged, he went to Fordham University where he earned his Professional Degree in Teaching. He dedicated his career to his students in primary education as a reading teacher, working for 25 years at the Croton Harmon School District, retiring in 2001. 

 In October 1969, he married Jeanne Griesbach. Jeanne predeceased him in 2008 leaving an irreplaceable void.

 Bill enjoyed the outdoors, camping across the country with his family and always was a DIY man for better or worse. Above all though he was an excellent chef and for those that had the pleasure of enjoying his meals knew he had a special talent. Bill had an appreciation of nature and animals, known for taking in rescue animals over the years.

 William is survived by his loving children Leah Zablinis and her boyfriend Mena Labiep and Marakim Taylor and her husband Ryan. His dear brother Robert Zablinis and his wife Patricia. Cherished grandchildren Madeline and Cameron Cruz, and Jordan Taylor. Bill was a dedicated father and grandfather, and always ensured that his family was taken care of. He always challenged his children to be the best version of themselves. Bill and Jeanne always put their children first.

 Friends may call on Saturday January 4, 2025 from 10:30am-11:30am at Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott Street, Cold Spring. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:45 am at the Cold Spring Cemetery.
