She graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in 1948, Cochran School of Nursing in 1951; received her teaching accreditation from Russel Sage College, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary College.

Mary started her career as an RN at Peekskill hospital, after starting a family, earned her accreditation in teaching and began a new career as a school nurse teacher both at Haldane, and Garrison school, where she was beloved by all her students. She then returned to Hudson Valley hospital and retired as the Director of Quality Management. After retiring from the medical field, she became an accomplished artist, filling her surroundings with beauty, she painted in oils in the style of the Hudson River artist.

The greatest joy of her life was family; always available to give guidance, love, and care, not just to her immediate family; her home was an open door, and her heart was full of joy. She cooked, baked, and hosted every Thanksgiving for a large gathering of family and friends, for over 60 years. Another great joy was spending time with her soulmate, Bill, they had many years together, traveling the globe, and building a stable home to come back to after a long journey.
